Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using medit8 (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

medit8 is an AI-powered web application that generates personalised guided meditation sessions using large language models and text-to-speech technology. The Service is provided on an “as-is” basis.

3. Not Medical Advice

medit8 is not a medical device, therapy tool, or substitute for professional mental health care, crisis support, or medical advice.

The Service is designed to support everyday wellbeing — stress relief, emotional regulation, focus, and relaxation. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or feel unsafe, please contact your local emergency services or a qualified mental health professional immediately.

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use medit8. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement.

5. User Responsibilities

  • You are responsible for any content you submit as input (“check-ins”).
  • You agree not to submit content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable.
  • You are responsible for safeguarding any API keys you provide in BYOK mode. We are not liable for costs incurred through your API provider.
  • You agree not to attempt to reverse-engineer, abuse, or circumvent rate limits or security measures.

6. API Key Usage (BYOK)

medit8 may operate in Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) mode, where you provide your own OpenAI API key. In this mode:

  • Your API key is stored in your browser and transmitted only to our server-side API routes for the purpose of generating your meditation session.
  • We do not store, log, or share your API key beyond the duration of a single request.
  • You are solely responsible for any charges incurred with your AI provider as a result of using medit8.

7. Intellectual Property

The medit8 brand, logo, user interface design, and underlying code are the intellectual property of the medit8 team. AI-generated meditation content is created on the fly and is provided for your personal, non-commercial use.

8. Availability & Changes

  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
  • We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without notice.
  • Features, models, voices, and capabilities may change as the Service evolves.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, medit8 and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the Service.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

11. Rate Limits & Fair Use

To ensure fair access for all users, the Service enforces rate limits on API requests and text-to-speech character budgets. Abuse or circumvention of these limits may result in temporary or permanent suspension of access.

12. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the application. Your continued use of medit8 after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles.
